Ideal for the branch panel in COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS and the main panel in light commercial applications, the B Series is versatile in its usage
Code Compliant – in 2020, Article 230.67 of the National Electrical Code® (NEC) updates required all services supplying dwelling units to be provided with a surge protective device (SPD), as an integral part of equipment or located immediately adjacent. The SPD must be a Type 1 or Type 2 SPD. The 2023 code expanded the requirements to dormitory units, guest rooms and guest suites of hotels and motels, and areas of nursing homes and limited-care facilities used exclusively as patient sleeping rooms

Max Surge Current Rating (Surge Capacity)
The maximum amount of current the device is capable of diverting to ground during a single surge event without performance degradation of more than 10%
Higher values are better
Nominal Discharge Current Rating (In)
The amount of current the device can divert to ground 15 times under specific test conditions and maintain performance levels
Higher values are better
Voltage Protection Rating (VPR)
The maximum voltage a surge protector will let through to connected devices
Lower values are better
Short Circuit Current Rating (SCCR)
The maximum current a device or system can safely withstand for a specified time, or until a specified fuse or circuit breaker opens and clears the circuit
Maximum Continuous Operating Voltage (MCOV)
Maximum line voltage (or V rms) that may be applied to the SPD without damaging the MOV
A lower MCOV rating allows for a lower VPR, but decreases the life of an MOV
